I'm doing this repair(for the second time) at the present you - also need a oil pressure sensor socket to remove and replace the sensor. I hope this info helps.
I did mine on my 1st gen without removing the dis,and used a pair of channel locks on the sensor.

On the oil problem, can it be a faulty gauge? I sure hope so, because at this time, I can't afford to pull the motor out to replace the oil pump. . .urrrgh HELP!!!
Unless you install a mechanical gauge (can be got for about 15 bucks) and check it with that, and not what the blazer is telling you,you wont know for sure what your pressure is. I cant help on the timing,as i suck at it myself. No point in buying a oil pump. Its job is to pump oil,the pressure you see is the pressure of the oil squeezing throughout the journals. if you have lots of wear on the bearings etc, pressures going to drop as there is more room for the oil to travel. Sounds like the engines tired, and its time for a rebuild or replacement.

Check pressure with a mech gauge, and post back, until then we cant really help you. if the pressure is still low, time for a motor. these 4.3's only need 6 psi for every 1000 rpm.

Good luck
