No reverse after rebuild
I have a question I hope you guys can help me with. I have a 1992 K1500 Blazer. I had some problems with my 700r4. I lost reverse. So I pulled the tranny. I bought a 700R4 raptor real deal kit that gives me everything to upgrade it (including the Sun Shell). The Sun Shell was fine. The onlly problem I found was a bad torrington bearing between the rear planetary and ring gear. After the rebuild and and reinstall I still do not have reverse. I have always had forward and still do.
I prefilled my new torque converter before installing it and I filled the tranny with a total of 11 qts (I put in 5 qts cranked the truck for 20 secs. and put in the rest of the fluid). I have checked the fluid level and it is full at the hot line. I let it idle for about 5 minutes to give it time to circulate and I checked it and it is still in the same place.
My questions:
1. Could I still be low on fluid and that is why I have no reverse?
2. Could it be over filled?
3. Is the 5 minutes long enough to get the tranny to hot so it will read correctly for the hot line on the dipstick?
Then my question is could I have a problem with my transfer case? Will the transfer case cause you to lose reverse?
So far I have not had much luck with this truck since I purchased it. I have only driven it a total of about 10 times for the year I have owned it. I have since put a new motor (383 stroker), new rearend (old one locked up while getting towed home), and now transmission (Raptor) in it and I still have problems. I am guessing the person that had it before me did not take very good care of it. So needless to say any help would be greatly appreciated!
