Default No start

My 93 W VIN will crank but not start. I took it to the dealer but they said it is probably the injectors. They said to be sure they would have to change my fuel pump because I only have 57 psi on the fuel rail and not 58psi. They did say it ran when they sprayed starter fluid down the intake.

I don’t think 1 psi would keep it from running do you?

I am leaning toward the injectors not having 12V or maybe the signal to fire them. What do you think? A couple weeks ago I put new plugs, wires, cap and rotor and drove it about 600 miles before this happened.

This happened after the huge rain fall we had here in MI.

Oh BTW they said they would replace the fuel pump and spider injector for $2000.00 but were not sure if it would fix the problem.

The vehicle is on its way back to my back yard!

Any ideas are appreciated.

Remove the distributor cap and look at the base plate. There may be a drain hole for moisture evacuation that has goten plugged with debris which can cause a short.

I removed the cap and it was dry and not plugged. The vehicle will start with starter fluid so I think spark is fine.

Does the ECM use the distributer to control the injectors?

Does it stay running after you spray starting fluid in or does it just die when it runs out?

When you checked the fuel pressure, did the pressure hold at 57 when the pump stopped? Did you check it with the key on engine off?
