Is this normal?
My trans doesn't seem to be shifting properly so I need some advice here guys. A little backstory, I bought this truck on Saturday for $1,600. Everything felt pretty OK although the trans seemed to slip a little bit. The fluid was filthy so I assumed that to be the cause. Then the SEL came on and told me that the 1-2 shift solenoid was bad. OK, no biggie, it's $25 bucks. So I took it to my mechanic (I don't touch trans fluid) and had the trans fluid/filter changed out, and the solenoid replaced.
Now the trans sometimes seems "better" but other times seems to either slip or just not want to shift. I'm hoping i don't have to spend another grand on a trans, so... help? I took a video, hopefully it's good enough.

This is a 2000 Blazer ZR2 with 130K miles on it.

Just talked to my dad who is used to my stepmoms 03 ZR2 and he says it does not feel like hers does at all. So I'm looking at a trans rebuild/replacement. A friend of mine has a guy she sends business to and he said $1,050 out the door. Is this a good price?
Also, It looks like the rear main seal may be leaking, is this something I should see if they could replace while the trans is out or does it matter?

Yeah that seems like it's slipping. I paid $1800 Canadian for my trans rebuild, but that's with a Mr Shift 2nd stage shift kit, corvette servo, kevlar belts etc. So $1000 should be a good deal if they do the work properly & warrenty their work.
I took about 2 hours or so to rebuild mine , but you are probably going to want to make a apointment . I don't no how things are in your area but around here that type of work is very much in demand . It costs 1649 dollars for a monster heavy duty 4x4 rebuilt transmission MonsterTrans.com might be worth checking out . They say that this transmission can handle up to 500 hp should be a worth while up grade .

I talked to the guy who will be doing mine and was quite disappointed. $1,050 plus 25 or so (whatever the part actually costs) to replace the rear main seal which appears to be leaking.
The down side is it will be 3-5 days while he rebuilds. The good news is that unless I'm wrong about where the oil is spewing from, this should take care of both problems I'm having. I suppose I should make sure that's where the oil is coming from now...

Hello this link is for one of the best 700R4 4l60E experts around he specializes in these trans. I put one of his kits in mine and made the whole S-10 Blazer come alive. 700R4 & 4L60E Automatic transmissions specialists - ProBuilt

They pulled mine, completely took it apart, tanked everything (solvent cleaned) & reassembled with the upgraded parts. They said I could haul on this in any gear up to 500hp all day & not hurt it, this side of neutral drops etc lol. I do know if I'm doing 40mph & drop it into 2nd or even 1st it goes! Love compression braking in the winter.
