Question about TCC P1870 code
I know i have the dreaded P1870 code, TCC component slippage... been doin alot of research on it, askin questions etc. I have priced around and a good transmission shop quoted me $550 for the rebuilt valve body install and they warranty there work 12 month 12,000 i believe... when i bought the the blazer it was like that, and the 2 previous owners said it was like that so its been like this for 3 yrs or so. Is there a way on here to keep the TCC from going into lockup, like run it in 3rd, and not OD or open her up and unhook the TCC/PWM solenoid on the valve body? Or is it not that big of deal, I notice no slippage in any of the gears or TCC and the tranny seems sound, and I know the tranny defaults to Maximum pressure when the P1870 code is set.
I had an old buick that the TCC was givin issues and just unplugged it from the front of the tranny so the TCC would not go into lockup.. not the same tranny and all but is there something similar I can do with the blazer to get by till next August. Thats the earliest I will be able to get that kinda cash to have the work done

This code has popped up on this forum more than once so there is information at your finger tips.
I wouldn't go unhooking anything until you were ready to swap parts. You can get a rebuilt valve body and put it in yourself. There isn't much to it.

yeah i have been researching the code and reading thru the forum, just don't have the cash yet to do anything, I fix and repair my own vehicles, but I am leery on doing that myself with the 7 check ***** so they go back in the right spot since when they fall out you don't see where they exactly fell from... I am sure if I looked more I could find a diagram where they go.
Would running it in 3rd instead of overdrive keep the TCC from going into lockup??

I believe that lockup can occur in 3rd gear as well.

OK thanks, will just baby her till I can afford to do the valve body job, and look for a diagram as well...checked the fluid the other day and its a dark color like it was when I got it, but it does not smell burnt at all so that's a plus.
