Yes... Going to work tomorrow, going to choose whatever most cost-effective option they tell me. MAYBE they will want to take the engine out so they can check the bearings etc, I really do not know, I am going to a local place, maybe do some kind of "save the engine if they tell me I need a new one and start getting that one built" kind of thing.
But, all that is pointless. I am at a disadvantage to get to and from work for however long this continues so hopefully I can have it licked in two to three weeks, the delay being in paying for the work done .
My question is to Interchange. Will a 1998 Chevy Astro "VIN X" engine swap in? Is it really as easy as when the engine is out, they swap pans and the fuel injection stuff that is in the Blazer already is simply bolted on to the place where it was removed before install?
If they DO recommend a new (used, new to me ) engine, just to get out of the situation I am in... I will probably buy new spark plugs and spark plug wires and distributor cap (NAPA Belden or AC Delco, which one?) and I may very well be that guy, driving around with an engine in the back of the truck, for however long, because there is nowhere else to put it.
My Blazer is a 1996, 4x4, 1GNDT 13W8T
