Default Red shop rag sucked into engine

Please enjoy a good laugh. I took my 87 blazer to a shop to have a new carb installed. (to lazy to do it) he put a reg shop rag in the intake. He fired it up. Running like **** knocking. He blamed the knocking on the starter fluid being used. After it started to idle still knocking. I noticed rag fibers coming out the exhaust. Killed it. Left. Was told they would Tare it down. Get there today with mu new water pump and can expected to see the engine in parts. To find out its running. They didn't pull anything apart to inspect. Ran it to burn the rag out.

The truck is still there. What kind of damage we might be seeing.

Thinking valves or maybe a rod

Keyword much. Ya I use those blue paper towels also.

Heading there now. For a meeting. It was the manager that did the work. The fun thing the work was done by a auto shop on a Airforce base so had to go above few heads

when i was building my stang engine i almost bolted down the lower intake with a rag in there..luckily i saw the corner of the rag when i checked for final alignment. i almost had a heart attack.

if it were their engine and someone did that they would be upset...

I think my biggest fear would be a bent valve. I would demand a compression test (done at their expense with you watching) to rule out any immediate issues.
