Default some sort of wiring probleam

To start I have a 2.8 fuel injected 1987 s10 blazer. Now for some reason the fuel pump will not turn on when you turn the key ahead but the relay does seem to be working. Also if I unplug the relay and jump the two wires(the power wire and fuel pump wire the fuel pump kicks on and starts pumping gas so I know its not the fuel pump. What could it be?

if you say the relay is good, but the pump doesn't turn on, so you jump the wires and the pump does turn on, then it's probably still the relay. just cuz it seems like it engages doesn't mean it actually did. or it could have, but the connection is bad because of the arcing. it could be several things. My suggestions is swap out the relay for another one to verify if the relay is actually bad or not.
