spring time tranny swap
Ok guys this is the thorn in my side!
My WIFE'S 94 S15 Jimmy has no reverse in her auto tranny, I figure that i'll have to swap trannys come spring, cant even see her truck under all the snow, any little tech tips or tricks will make things easier when the time comes.
I do not have a garageto do this in nor do i have an engine lift to to the "big pull"
so it is a driveway repair
4.3 Vortec 4dr 4wd i believe it has the 4L60e tran
Thanx for whatever help you can give me
Wife happy.....Me happy

You will have to make sure that you get a 93-94 4L60E to swap in as in 95 they changed to a PWM controller for the torque converter lockup.
Other than that, Take your time. The bell housing bolts can be fun. Just make sure that you have enough extensions to get from the those bolts to the back of the transmission. The upper ones can be accessed by dropping the back of the transmission down slightly, but be careful not to destroy the distributor.

She still has a 4L60E. 1993 is the year they switched from the 4L60 (aka 700R4) to the 4L60E. The 4L60 is hydraulically controlled and should have a TV cable; the 4L60E is electronically controlled and will not.
