after the tranny swap I still have no reverse. I am still using the old trasfer case. Fluid levels are ok. 2000 Blazer w 4L60E tranny. I'm confident that this newer tranny is fine as I bought it from a used parts dealer who sells to GM dealerships.
I believe I have a PCM problem - I disconnected the 13 pin connector on the rear right of the trans and then I had reverse temporarily. But after checking fluid levels and adding more fluid I still have no reverse with or without the 13 pin tranny connector plugged in.
What else could be causing this problem here?

Could be an issue with the valve body? Maybe one of the runners is clogged? Just throwing something out there though..I'm no tranny expert...

Well apparently the real problem was lack of fluid - after reading the tutorial in theabove link and seeing that around 12 quarts of fluid would be required in all - I figured I would be absolutely certain I had enough fluid in the transmission. The dipstick read onlya little low on the hot end but I added another quart anyways. Now reverse and all gears seem towork fine again (even with the 13 pin connector plugged in).
I just didn't think the transmission would require that much fluid

A low fluid level can cause some really weird problems. Hopefully that was not the problem with the previous transmission as well...
