Timing Chain and Compression Issue
#11
to put an 03+ in you just need to swap the lower intake manifold+exhaust mainfolds and drill/tap the knock sensor. that's it. everything works the same. mine happened to be out of an 03 sonoma 4x4 so i did not have to change the oil pan, but 2wd and 4x4 are different oil pans.

Yes, Crank, Cam, Dist. Button, all line up. Cyl 1 is at top dead. Had valve cover off to make sure on compression stroke. the rockers move up and down on all cyl. ( i dont know for sure if that valve is fully seating). Very little compression comes out of the plug holes except for CYL 5. My wife was driving so I really dont know if the truck was running different up to the point the chain broke. Also a little side note the oil pressure was bad--warm engine 30 psi at best round 2k RPM little less then 10 psi at idle if guage was correct. No problems up to that point with vehicle. Think I am gonna sell it cheap (00 blazer ZR2 )
according to manual #4 is supposed to be TDC when doing timing chain alignment....
