Default Tranny Help

Hey all,

01 Blazer LS, 165,000 miles. So today, drove it to work, no problems. After work I started it up, drove it out of the parking lot, stopped at a red light, then nothing...

It shifts out of park, but all you get is engine rev. No reverse, no forward gears, no codes, plenty of tranny fluid, no leaks. Oh and there was no indication, noise, vibration, bang, at all when this happened. Even put it in 4-hi to see if that would do anything, and nothing. Everything starts and runs fine, just absolutely no gears to speak of.

Any ideas?

Sounds like an electrical problem being so sudden with no prier slippage or leaks of any kind. There's plenty pf electronics on the 4L60E that can go wrong. May need to have a good shop look at it.

It went to the shop today. First thing they told me is I needed a new battery. Ok, I know it's an older battery, but really? So I told them to put a new one in. That was at 11am this morning, it's now 11pm; I never heard anything the rest of the day from them. We'll see what they say tomorrow.

But yeah, everyone I have talked to has said the same thing, sounds like an electrical problem.

Somehow I don't think a new battery will solve your problem.....

Yeah so, without even popping the tranny pan or removing the tranny, they state that it's blown and I need a complete rebuild. So yeah, time to sell the blazer and buy a new vehicle. I don't want to dump $2000 into the transmission on a truck that's only worth $2500...

Well, sadly, i've decided to get out of the Blazer... I drive 60 miles round trip a day to work and between the gas milage and the questionable service life that's left in a truck with 165,000 miles, i've decided to purchase a new vehicle. I'm probably gunna sell the Blazer, maybe it's a $50 quick fix, maybe it's a $2500 tranny; sadly, i'm done with her...
