Default trans not shifting

Hello everyone and Happy New Year,
My 94 GMC Jimmy S15 project has been going well, until today. I was so proud that when my son came from Michigan to visit I told him to take it for a ride, he returned and said that it would not shift...
I took it out, (mind you, I just took it to the store yesterday without any issues), and sure enough, no shift from 1 to 2. (auto)
came back and found hardly and trans fluid, what an idiot I am, any way added 4 quarts, drove it in between each quart and finally it would shift some times but not all the time.

I decided to give a rest overnight and have another go in the morning...

I am hoping that I did not hurt anything but, JC I put about $1500 into it to get it nice and then this...

Any thoughts?
Thank You!
Tim

Is the speedometer working? Transmission with fluid level that low will cause failure in quick order. Where is the fluid leaking?

I didn’t attach any photos. .?? The fluid I going into the transfer case from a failed input seal. The transfer case will be over full so take precautions when you check it as fluid will fly out and cover you and surrounding area. Transfer case will need to removed and seal replacement.
