Trans removal
I'm trying to remove the trans from a 97 4x4 blazer. My problem is the engine is seized solid. P/O had the oil line to the filter let go and pumped all the oil out while driving on the interstate. So I can't get the torque converter bolts out. My question, is there enough room to pull the trans with the torque converter still bolted to the engine? It looks like i should be able to. If not I'm going to unbolt the body and may as well install my body lift.

If you are going to reuse transmission I wouldn’t. Good possibility of damaging torque converter hub or pump bushing by that type of removal. I would suggest removing oil pan on engine and loosen the rod and main caps till engine will rotate. Good luck

This second option would be my choice. Depending on what you want to keep from that Blazer.
Pulling the pan from a 4x4 is a nightmare and will not really work with the engine on it's supports.
If you get the engine to the point where you can pull the pan, you can as well pull the whole engine/transmission, if you are properly equipped.
Remove the radiator and pull the distributor. You may even pull the fenders, depending on how deep you can and are willing to dig into it. Also a question of available dry and warm space.

Thanks for all the input. I went against better judgment and advice. I did however remove the body bolts and lifted the body so I was sure to have enough room to pull the trans. It doesn't appear that I hurt anything. Un bolting the torque converter wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Luckily one bolt was almost straight down so the other two were accessible.
