Default Transfer case 4x4 problem

I took my Blazer out one night, and threw it in 4WD for some off-road. I tried to switch it back and I could only hear clicking. My stepdad (who's a mechanic) released the front axle, and installed a new Encoder motor he had me buy. Now, aparently I need a new TCCM. I've checked local Dealerships.. And they're charging 400+. I tried Junkyards, and they needed the exact part number. Anybody able to tell me a model number for a 1998 3 switch, TCCM or throw me a place to find one cheaper?

Did the truck go into 4wd? If so, I doubt that the TCCM or your encoder motor were at fault here. The front axle engages with engine vacuum supplied by the vacuum switch on the transfer case. If you heard clicking, it is possible that the front axle did not entirely disengage. Or am I misunderstanding your details.

Yeah, it went into 4wd. But when I tried to switch back to 2wd it just did a single click sound, but never left 4wd. It's in 2wd now, and works fine. But I want to get it fixed before Winter. The encoder motor's been replaced since. I believe he took a scanner to it, and figured it out by the codes.
