Default Trouble

I have a 2001 w/ a 4.3 and I need some ideas on whats the problem with it. I was driving on hte highway about 65-70 mph with the cruise on when the rpms jumped then dropped and I lost speed. The engine never died and I was able to go about 30 mph with the pedal to the floor. It would loose speed and gain speed but always stayed in the 30 mph range. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your check engine light on? Should be with a problem like that... If it is, get the codes read and report back to us.

No, no check engine light. I got a buddy that has a OTC style scanner and there was a code for number one cylinder miss fire. Other than that there was no codes.
