Any help would be great. Wife called and her 2001 4.3 was running very bad. Scanned it, found multiple misfire. Also, lots of water in the oil. Checked compression. They look ok, so, I replaced the intake gaskets. Out it all together and it still runs terrible. Sometimes won't start at all. Havent driven it but let it run till thermostat opened and no oil in water yet. Why the misfire still? Friend thinks the water ruined my lifters and now they aren't opening the valves correctly. Should I replace them? Help!!

have you tried a tune up after replacing the gaskets? or at least replacing the plugs?

not yet. That is today. However, the cap, rotor, plugs and wires are all less than 3 months old. Seems odd to me that they would go that bad that fast. Anythings possible with a cracked cap I guess... and a multiple misfire code....back later.

Well got it all fixed. New cap, rotor, plugs, and fuel filter. Filter was pretty bad, and I found one plug (#3 behind steeer column) cracked. Runs much better now. Still no water in the oil, must have been the intake gasket.
