Default What are the differences in 4.3's engines??

i have a 1998 olds bravada and i blew a head gasket so i bought a new motor for it. it came out of a 2003 silveraldo with 30k miles for 500 bucks. a great deal. i swapped out the oil pan, intake, manifolds, crank sensor (in the back behind the distributor i think that is what it is) and the oil pump. somebody told me "that engine will not bolt up to your trans" i don't believe him but i would like a second opinion. thanks!

You should have no problems bolting it up to your transmission.

yeah i thought that guy didn't know what he was talking about. i did notice that the intake was different and manifolds but i'm using my old stuff so i think it would be the same. he meantion something about 300mm?? i heard of L35? what about transmissions mine's awd but i figured i could use one out of something newer with less miles maybe even a 2wd trans? mine has 160k on it so im not sure how long it will last?

I'd just stick with your transmission until you have reason to replace it.

You may have to swap the flex plate as I do seem to recall a difference in torque converters, but that would only be a difference in how large the torque converter was which may impact the bolting to the flex plate.
