what do you mean tzfbird, my old engine is straight intake the new engine is angled but from a think i had found on the net it said my heads from my 96 engune have bigger valves then the 93 engine so it was better along with the reinforcement the 96 block has my ?ion is it talks about something called strut bosses what are those and how do i know if my motor has them and do i need them if the new one dont have it

Ok, I have no idea. I was just going off the fact that the Vortec heads for a V8 have vertical bolt holes instead of the angled holes. I figured maybe these are similar to that. I have only had my Blazer for 5 months and have yet to get into the engine at all.

the issue your friend was refering to between the '93/'94/'95 engine & the later ones, is in reference to the intake/head angles. they don't match.
as for the '96+ heads being better in design, that may be, but i really don't think they installed bigger vavles in them. maybe just a better flow design?
