Converting front hubs??
Ok well the hubs in my blazer are starting to go so i figure i will replace them and ceonvert them to manual locking hubs..now is this a big job?? Also do I buy a conversion kit or what??and where should I get this?? I did some reserearch and couldnt find alot on this...Thankz
There should be kits available from the major 4x4 supply companies. Just do a google. If you are really mechanical you could look at local recycle/wrecking yard to see if any older 4x4 large front axles have manual hubs and remove them and install them on your truck...but the best bet is the kits...
We have a number of 4X4 specialty shops around my area, so that's where I go.
It's not a big deal to change them over to manual hubs, I've changed to manual on my '85.
The hubs come packaged with an exploded view instruction page, I do one side at a time and I have a habit of laying all the parts out in the order that they come apart. ('cause I have a short memory)
I am very happy with my manual hubs. I service them once a year.

Wished it could get manual hubs for this IFS setup...don't trust the vacuum/cable mechanism after reading all the problems with leaks and such failing at the wrong time...could at least make the vacuum lines a little heartier or metal...
