Default dash overhaul

so i took out the dash in my 74 k5 because half the stuff was falling out anyways. half the gauges didnt work, most of the plastics are cracked. either way i need a new dash and everything. do you guys think it would be good to just put like diamond plate in there and drill some holes for new gauges? i figured i would need to get new sending units and everything too seeing how my oil pressure sensor is a piece of tubing that hooks up to the oil lines lol.

has anyone done this before and can post pictures so i have some idea of what im going to be doing? i also figured i would get a new wiring harness while im at is since half the wires on here are all cut up.

its actually pretty common. alot of the guys with jeeps i see offroad do stuff like that, they sell wiring harnesses too i think theres a place called painless wiring harness that has basically what your looking for. you can try to find the factory stuff and replace it also thats what i did with my 86. she was a katrina victim and not a dang thing worked on that truck. i just used another harness and put the dash together with stuff i had laying around out of k5 blazers

i looked on painless and they want something like 600 for a wiring harness. i found some universal ones for like 100 with 14 circuits. for now i want to keep the stock harness and just run new wires. it works so might as well just leave it that way till it breaks.

i was mainly wondering if anybody has a how to somewhere or will i just have to custom make this from scratch...
