Default Gas Guage Trouble

I have an '88 K5 and the gas guage goes to full at fill up. As the level in the tank goes down, the guage will move toward "E" and functions as it should. However, when it hits 3/4 tank the needle moves no further. I have been using the trip odometer to tell me when I need to fill-up again but this is beginning to become a pain.

Any ideas on why the needle would stop a 3/4 tank and not move any closer to "e?"

Thanks!

I am suspecting that it is the sending unit. Can anyone tell me where the sending unit is located on an 88 K5? And, how much of a pain in the *** is it to change out?

Do not overlook a stuck gauge in the dash. If you tap on the dash, does the gauge move past the 3/4 marK?

The sending unit is in the tank. The difficulty comes in the how nice (or rusted) the bolts and fittings as well as how much fuel there is in the tank.

No reason to be a dick, man....you came here asking for help so it would probably be in your best interest to NOT be a smartass. Also, don't be pissed off because you didn't read the posting rules.
