Default gas mileage help :\

hay yall I am lookin' to buy a 1989 Chevrolet K5 Blazer with are-built 350 and a6" suspension lift... the guy said that he "re-geared the rear" (i'm gonna give him the benifit of the the doubt at the moment and assume he did the same to the front). It has 3.08's in there now. He doesnt have a clue where to begin estimate'n the gas mileage. Maybe somebody on here knows a round 'about estimate for what its gas mileage is, or if anything what a 1989 stock blazer gets gas mileage wise.

any input would be really appreciated yall
thanks
Emily

if its got 3.08s in it with a 6 inch lift (i am assuming it has 35's on it) he didnt re gear anything, and these gears arent gonna turn 35's so easy, you'll get alot of inertia from a dead stop, you need to run at least 4.10s w/ 35's. Also, before you re-gear i would suggest getting rid of the 10 bolt rear axle in favor of a 12 bolt. Tall tires are rough on a 10 bolt and the axles are weak. I blew mine after about a year of running 35s. As for gas mileage, i just swapped out a 454 in favor of a 383 , I am running 35's wit 4.88 gears and i get about 11 miles to the gallon compared to about 6 mpg wit the big block, and the 383 has more horsepower. I am also running a TH 400 tranny w/ no overdrive, you probably have a TH700R4 tranny wich will increase your milage a bit. K5's are awesome and i drive mine everyday, if you set it up right, you'll never want to let her go. Good luck with her, i hope i was a little help.

Welcome to the forum.
If you ask your tech questions in General Tech Help, you may get more responses (although you're doing alright so far).
Just remember if you change the rear gearset, ya need to change the front to match.
I love my old K5s too!
