How do I know if I have R-12 or R-134?
I have no idea if my A/C has been converted or not? Anyone know how to tell if it has been converted?

R-12 used a Schader with threads to screw a gauge etc on both the high & low sides. There is a valve core just like a tire has. The R134A use a a clip on type valve. You will see a ball that pushes in.
If it has been converted it should have a tag stating so. That is required if it was done professionally.

In this picture the person is holding a r134a fitting just above a r12 fitting. If you have r12 simply use a adaptor kit with a fitting like the red one and convert it over. Google is your friend on how to convert it over if ya need help with that.

Lucky you R12 is way colder but also more expensive than gold. I would use duracool in it its compatable with R12 systems and is colder than 134A
