Sometimes a cracked flexplate will cause a knocking sound. Pull off the inspection cover and look really close. Also see if your trans came lose off the engine that's how mine cracked

I was told that also....where is that located?...i was told to look at the flywheel, main bearing..etc....thanks!

Well it looks like i have to replace the engine....a complete rebuild is gonna cost 1100!..is this a good price to rebuild my old engine?

Do you have any of the details?

Truck is still in the yard..calling around geting price quotes...motor is still in truck.had a guy look at it and he told me to replace the motor...said it had a piston knock from a loose bearing!..just bought the truck don't know the motor well enough so just figured i'd have the motor rebuilt...

it MIGHT be possible just to replace the bearing if you didnt drive it to long and oval off the crank. but im guessing you probably have to pull the engine to remove the pan anyways. ive done that in the past with a offroad truck. just dropped the pain threw out the spun bearings put new ones in and the engine was fine. tried it a different time where the guy drove like that for a while and it ovaled the crank and was nothing you could do

So is 1100 a good price for the total rebuild?..the guy said it would basically move the mileage of the engine to 0...just wondering if the price was too high...

If you only need to replace the bearings, gaskets, rings, etc, and do a cylinder hone, $1100 to drop it off and pick it up, that seems high to me, but might not be too bad depending on where you are located. If parts need to be replaced, then it's probably a good price.
