On my 92 fullsize,how can you tell if knock sensor is bad?

 

my 93 s10 throws a code when i brake the dang thing. its right next to the steering shaft and it tends to hit it. so with it completely broken off the block the truck still runs but kinda runs a little bit weird is the best way to describe it
