well amigos i went down there and this is what we got......i went down there and my blazer was parked......ran into a wall and my bumper was mildly bent. i went and raised hell and long story short they haven't even cracked the diff cover open. the guy has been pushing it back cause the diff tech is out from back surgery. the guy was asking those questions about the transfer case because he wanted the tech to have all the information and parts he needed to get started as soon as he came back. he promised he would heavily discount it and buy me a bumper and apologized. it also explains why there was "fitment" issues cause he was makin stuff up to keep me strung along and also has no knowledge of the job. he thought i was re gearing for gas mileage. so i guess we are waiting to see what happens when the tech gets back. so no blown transfer case just a big waste of time. I appreciate you guys advice. i know just enough to sound like a have no clue so thanks again for reassuring me i wasn't in the wrong.

Whenever you get a gut feeling that something isn't being done right. TRUST IT. In this case it proved to be correct.

Also tell them a girl can do their job better than them! lol

Wow. I'd make him put a new bumper on, then take it somewhere else that will just be honest with you. It wouldn't have been very difficult for him to just say "Hey man, my diff tech fubar'd his back and is going in for surgery, it may take a few weeks until I can get it done."

so good news i got the truck back and he gave me a dress up kit for the motor as well. so alls happy there. since im surround by incompetents im going to have to rebuild it myself or swap it out with another one. either way i am sure i can handle it. but my problem is that i can't find a donor to rebuild or run while i rebuild the existing one. if i have my truck on jacks codes will haul it off so i gotta have one for it to sit on either way. so what would you guys recommend? is there a place that sells em besides ebay and craigs. all the ones i have found are 88 and up and my truck is 84. can i swap it with a 12 bolt 14 bolt? dana? i dunno. if i could but get something to make it move while i rebuild the 10 bolt id be set. but as you can tell im not a total pro here. what do you reco? Thanks in advance

There are a number of axles that fit under the back of your truck. The older K5's came with 12-bolt axles as standard. Your's likely has a 10-bolt. Jumping to a 14-bolt would require 8-lug rims unless you were to find a 14bsf from a newer heavy half or 3/4 ton truck. You have to match your front axle gear ratio unless you want to dig into that as well.

I would call around to the local junkyards & see what they might have. Their interchange system should give direct swap options. Car-parts.com can also be used to find the information yourself.
