Default 2003 blazer thoughts.

Hello,
I'm new here, i was looking at getting into a blazer which is why i joined this forum. But i was reading reviews and saw some bad and good things about them. I was looking at a 03 zr2. i started to second guess buying one because i read that the front ends were weak, eating through ball joint etc. i also read they get water leaks in the rear windows. Are there any ball joints that are more beefy that wont wear out after 10k miles? and how is the MPG on highway, anyway to up that a little? i drive 45 mins to work daily.

Thanks!

I don't have either of those problems with mine. Under normal driving conditions the front ends will last a long time. If your planning in heavy duty off roading they tend to be weak. There are some companies who make heavy duty replacement parts for the weak idler arm and the tie rods.
Do a search theres lots of good info here.

well id end up doing a little offroading. No climbing or anything really stupid. But what about the mpg then? I read a new fuel pump will up that a little bit. I do a lot of highwat driving to work.

I like our Blazer but these things do have some issues. Door hinge pins, LIM etc. Mine does seem to require more maintenance than our other vehicles. If you are looking for a gas miser keep looking. These V6's are pretty thirsty even when they are completely tuned up. If you like turning your own wrenches and don't mind mediocre gas mileage this is the vehicle for you. I don't know that I would buy another one when we tire of our current one but it has been a decent vehicle for us so far.
