Buying a used S-10 Blazer -- Need Help!
#1
Okay I'm a new member here in need of help -- I tried Chevy forum, and they were no help, so I'm hoping to find more helpful people here -- I'm looking at buying a used S-10 Blazer and I want to do a VIN report, but they are massively expensive. So I'm hoping that maybe someone would have unlimited VIN reports or extra, on carfax.com or autocheck.com, and could run one for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2 whole hours huh???
Have you considered asking the seller to get the report? Try talking them into it stating that if it were clean, it would be a good thing to have for selling the vehicle. Only costs $35 anyway so if it was that important to you that you had to post such an impatient reply...
As you have found on other forums, not many people have unlimited access to vehicle reporting websites that can ethically give it away. Especially since most of them stopped the unlimited reporting for xx days/months/etc plans. Those working at dealerships who have access to such systems risk their job if they get caught running reports for others...

Is a report that important to you? If they have the title in hand you can see if it's a rebuilt/salvage right on it? those are the major issues, otherwise it'll just show how many times it was sold/registered. Go through a full rundown of the truck if you are hesitant, take it for a test drive, look it all over, listen for funny sounds, check if 4x4 works (if it has it) check the trans fluid for burnt trans, check the oil+pressure, brakes, ball joints, all the basics... Ask the seller for service history...
When I bought my truck The guy had the title and even let me take it for a spin... oil pressure was low but I couldn't beat the price ($1000). He had all the receipts for it for the past year, and all it needed to pass inspection was 4 ball joints cost me ($93)... but the low oil pressure caught up with me and so I put in a used engine, new radiator+hoses, motor mounts, intake+exhaust gaskets, and everything else it needed, cost me about $1000 for the engine swap an all parts needed.. all in i've spent $2400 on the thing.. I figured it was a hell of a deal....

look to see if the ball joints have been replaced or not... if they're bolted in place then they are super easy to change, if they're factory rivets its a bit more intensive to replace and look for torn boots on anything, tie rod ends, ball joints, cv axles. if you need to, take it to a shop you trust and pay them a few bucks to look it over.
