Default engine removal

I have a 1990 Blazer 4x4 5.7. Is it possible to remove the engine and trans while leaving the transfer case in the truck. If so, do I only need to remove the 4 bolts at the end of the trans.

Thanks for the input.

It might be possible, but it will actually make the job more difficult. The transfer case comes out very easily by removing the six bolts that hold it to the transmission (not the four that hold the tailshaft housing on), the driveshafts, the shift linkage, and a couple of wires. Trying to jack it up and secure it in place with the driveshafts and everything connected would actually create more work, IMO.
