Default engine swap

can I put a 466 SIX CYLINDER TURBO DIESEL into a 1984 Military issue?
I can get my hands on the car for 2K and the engine for 1500, don't want the 6.2 in there but have no idea what it would cost to swap for a better but still cheap diesel engine, any suggetions or ideas. I'll plan for a daily commuter (40miles) and need something reliable.

You probably can, but the length of the motor will be an issue. Anything can be accomplished with $$$ and time.
