I have been reading up on projectors and i am wondering if i purchased some if they are legal in Wisconsin.A set i am looking for comes with a set of H4 bulbs. What makes a projector illegal and what color or bulb make a projector illegal?

Contact your states DOT... The laws are different for each state.

From what I've heard, though... The H4 converion projectors are complete and absolute poop.

Here is the code the cop was refering to;

He must have missed the dunkin donuts exit, and used this code in the incorrect way and applicable reason.

(ie; if you took off the bumper, and put a towel bar from pep boys on instead.)

Penndot - CHAPTER 41
EQUIPMENT STANDARDS
Section: § 4107. Unlawful activities.

(1) Willfully or intentionally remove (other than for purposes of repair and replacement) or render inoperative, in whole or in part, any item of vehicle equipment which was required to be installed at the time of manufacture or thereafter upon any vehicle, by any law, rule, regulation or requirement of any officer or agency of the United States or of the Commonwealth, if it is intended that the vehicle be operated upon the highways of this Commonwealth unless the removal or alteration is specifically permitted by this title or by regulations promulgated by the department.

There was a report on 60 mins or something like that a while back on the headlight issue. While they are annoying, and **** a whole lot of us other drivers off *cough cough*, there is nothing saying they are illegal. On top of that, there is no research out there that can prove they impare other drivers or cause wrecks. So while we may b**** and moan, there's not really anything we can do other than suck it up. We basically have to agree to disagree.

its a Pennsylvania cop ... was it a State Trooper or a Local? if it was a local then he was probably just bored and looking to give someone a headache and unfortunately you fit the bit apparently. if the Projectors are DOT Approved and are stamped then I wouldn't worry about it, there is nothing much they can do other than give you a hard time ... I used to have some eBay euro tails that were not even stamped and got through both Pennsylvania inspection twice with no issue and Delaware Inspection once with no issue ... so I would think if you can pass inspection with them then you really should be fine .. you should make sure they are aimed correctly to state standard and you should be fine. and if that cop gives you a ticket in the future take them to court and fight it.

Good for you Unlimitedsp,that was smart, and I agree with jagblazer01, keep it in the glove box for the next time it may happen. If he or any other cop pulls you over just don't get real cocky with him, he'll have it out for you and could make your life hell for a while. It's always best to be the bigger man AND be right. I had a friend in a similar situation and the cop really gave him a hard time for a while, util my buddy filed a formal complaint against him, that made him back down.

The cop had probably been on a legislation "revison course" & came across that clause & to re-inforce that knowledge (or show off to his superiors that he actually learnt something) he went out to find an example! LOL
