Default Have a 97 4x4 4.3 Blazer blown motor

Its a 4 door with automatic trans. I need another motor. Im being told by scrap yard that I need a 96-98 motor. Cant use a 2000 motor??? why??? Is it because of the sensors. If im just changing motor or is it because where vacuum and electronics hook up??? Is there a chart that show what can be swapped???

'96 through '98 would be a straight forward swap. '99 through '02 would be the next option. They have the secondary air system, so you would need to transfer and re-use certain parts from your '97. You can also use '03 through '05. No secondary air system to deal with, but those would require transferring the camshaft, lifters, pushrods, and intake manifold.

Exhaust manifolds for sure, and possibly some other "plumbing". When you get into it, you'll see what needs to be changed over.
