Though it is apparently illegal in TX to modify my 03 2wd blazer with HID lights or projector housings,
I am curious what is recommeded for my truck in terms of am HID kit,and a suggested projector
set up. Have many of you in texas been pulled over for having these?

Thanks

Ok so I was one of the fortunate members to get one of the “buy one do a review and get a second for free” deal. So now im holding up my end of the bargain.

I think im the first one to do a review for a first gen blazer HID conversion. Well for those who don’t know, first of all you have to get rid of your sealed beam lights and get a lamp conversion to h4’s. Once this is done then you can actually use the HID’s.

First off communication was fast, and shipping was even faster A++ for that!.

So unpacking the contents you will find 2 bulbs 2 ballasts and 1 wiring harness… only 1. a lot of other HID kits I have seen contain 2 harness’s one for each ballast, but this one actually only has one that connects to both.. kinda cool. You will also notice that the bulbs have “shields” on the bottom of them. You can remove them if you want your beam to be “taller” (less cut off). There is a picture of that too.

You can see the stock light patter and brightness. Its actually yellower than the camera shows up as, but you get the idea.

These are the hella h4 conversion I chose to use. A little expensive but the quality is a lot better than the ebay specials. These are DOT legal as well and are all glass.

This is the front of the blazer once you take the grill off to change the lights. (just a bunch of t-15 torx screws holding it on. I changed them all to Phillips just for the off chance that I have to change the bulb some where and I don’t happen to have a t15 screwdriver hehe.

I choose to mount the ballasts using back straps. I actually used more than that, I had 2 on the top, like shown and I had 2 on the back and sandwiched them together so they would not move anywhere. I also used double sided tape on back as well as screws… didn’t want them to move at all. I took out the battery to mount the passenger side ballast. I decided to put the switch there as well so that the positive and negative would be right attached to the battery.

It was an easy kit to install I only came across one problem. I hooked it all up and nothing worked lol, what ended up being the problem was the car side of the h4 plug was corroded so it wasn’t even turning on.

You can see the light patter with the low and highs (I purchased the bi-xion kit). As you can see the low beam pattern was everyone where…. This is because I took off the shields. I tried it that night and ended up putting them back on the next day, and that made a huge improvement.

Conclusion: this is a good priced HID kit that doesn’t take a long time to install and you don’t need to be an electrician either! I will be picking up another set for my brother car too.

Pros: good price point (especially with discount).
Bi-xion
Only one harness to fool around with
2 year warranty
Fast shipping

Cons: did not come with instructions (although you cant really screw it up the plugs only
plug in one way.)
