How long have you had and how much have you put into your blazer?
Have a1998 blazer, bought it in jan. 2012 for 950.00. Still getting it road worthy, I`ve put in a new spider, 2 rear calipers and pads ,parking brake shoes ,brake line ,rubber gas hose, both sway bar links ,idler arm and finally this weekend I`ll put in a pitman arm and she`ll be done
I've had my blazer (Big Bertha) about a year now...
replaced the wires/plugs (basic tune up) first week of ownership.
changed the tranny fluid/filter and oil/filter myself.
3" exhaust from manifold back
tail lamps
head lights
brake system
bumper
grille
battery
ball joints
tie ends (as well as applicable parts)
.....
just purchased a 4" rough country lift
steering stabilizer (this model is not built with a hole for stabilizer FYI)
18" KMC RockStar wheels
next big project:
The Engine and fuel system.
Lockers and interior.
Will Post Pics when lift is complete.....
any advice is more than welcome...
...if anybody knows where to get original interior parts for this model, please let me know. i am looking for inside door panels, sun visors, and random plastic molding around the back hatch area. thank you.

I'd go ahead and change them now, just to be safe.
In that area of the vehicle, one part going out is usually a sign that you will need a new front end suspension eventually. maybe not. just plan for it

1500 bucks? what!? Grab you some wheel bearing or 100 bucks apiece, and the other stuff for less then 300. $400,some friends. you can have it knocked out in 3-4 hours.

I've had my 98 LT 4x4 for a couple of years now. I was looking for something inexpensive, but would haul a decent amount of stuff with me, as I've been fairly mobile for a while. I had a Sprinter van before this, but the cost of maintaining was too much for my now student budget.
I got it from a dealer with 96K on it, for $4000. Probably paid too much for it, but it seemed in really good shape, newish tires, etc. It was a one owner, and they obviously didn't drive it much. I pretty much bought it, and headed for friends house a few hours away. I got about an hour down the road and realized the waterpump was shot. That was quick $$$.
Hard to say how much I've put into it. It's needed things pretty regularly, and still needs a few. I'd say that not counting tires, maybe $1200 in parts and the occasional labor. Right now, it needs the AC system fixed/replaced, and I need to do the rest of the ball joints and idler arm. There is also a lower manifold leak. Everything else works though that I know of.
The biggest expense has been gas. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I've had to put a lot more miles on it than I had planned in the last year. The gas has really added up, and the 16-20mpg has cost me thousands over buying a smaller car which I might have been better off with. While it is cheaper for me to keep it and fix things, I know if I keep it a few more years, I would have probably paid for something else just in gas.
It is a good vehicle though. It's comfortable for me at 6'5", I like the bells and whistles in the LT, and it has done everything I've wanted over a lot of different terrain, and weather. If it got better mileage, I'd really have no problems with it, but nothing else in it's class does any better.

I've owned my truck since 2004 and probably have a little over 5k into it. I've done all the typical maintenace items such as balljoints, hubs, seals and ect. A bulk of what I spent was on the suspension, wheels, tires, and misc interior items. Now no more pouring money into it unless something breaks. I have noticed a leak coming from the oil pan and I need to replace my passenger side hub again.

I did al of this for 530.00 doing the work myself.
