Do 4 cylinder and 4.3 4x4 5spds work too?

I know for a fact that the 4.3L bell housing pattern is different from the 2.8L, but I think that the I4's may be the same pattern as the 2.8L.

Yes, that correct but the bell is irrelivant, the tranny bolts to the bell I have. The tranny onlyis what I am referring. does the 5spd from a 4.3 have the same input shaft and output shaft, tranny mount, over all length ?

I read up on the T5 and I should have a 14 spline input shaft and a 4.03 ratio 1st gear, I m now thinking a 2.8 or 4cyl 2wd 5spd doner tranny could work will by 4x4 tail housing extension swapped out as the actual case is the same, hopefully the tail shaft length is the same on a 2wd versus a 4wd. I di d begin the teardown yesterday to see the carnage.
