Mounting spare to roof basket?
That old truck, or as my brother liked to call it "Bessie", had a 1-bbl carb with a manual choke on a 283 V8, and a 4-speed manual transmission with a "granny gear" for first. In that truck you'd always start in 2nd. 1st gear was for when you were stuck. I tell people that watching my father drive that p/u I learned how to double-clutch before I learned how to drive.
Oh yeah, it had split-rim tires too!
I've seen both, wouldnt recommend too much for a blazer... unless you got a lift and mount it low, itll be high and you'll lose a lot of the road...
If having the spare tire out there on the spare carrier has gotten annoying, stop and think for a moment that this is a problem many Blazer owners would like to have and some have gone to considerable junkyard trips to try to emulate.
Also, it seems to have gone unmentioned that you can just throw the spare in the rear, lay it flat, and strap it down and all the worries about it damaging fishing rods etc. suddenly disappear. That might be worth considering too.
LOL thinking the same thing. I drilled holes in my quarter panel to mount a tire carrier onto my 4 door. I wish mine had come factory that way!
There is a Ford Ranger 4x4 pickup truck that runs around town here that has a tire mounted on the front, looks like it is mounted too his tow hooks... It dosen't seem too have any kind of lift on it either. The top of the tire is actually level with the top of the hood as best as I can tell... It really dosen't look that bad actually, different for sure but not bad lol!
