I ran 10w30 in my old Z34... anything less than 5w30 is pretty much pointless this far south... Especially with block heaters and such...

10w30 is good for pretty much anywhere, lol...
You won't notice a difference in performance between the two, except in sub 0*C temperatures...

I wandered over to my local NAPA...
But you don't really need the Seafoam, it's about the same price as GM Top End Cleaner costs me from the Dealership, and they're pretty much the same product...
Except the Seafoam can doesn't say anything about dumping it all in and stalling the engine, while, if I remember right, the GM stuff does, lol

Exactly... The 30 grade part of your multi-viscosity oil is what stops it from breaking down when your engine is at running temp, and on hot weather...
That's why it's usually a good idea for states like AZ to run 10w40 during the summer...

The 5 means that at -40, the oil will still flow.... even though, it'll be more like corn syrup, it'll still flow, lol

Heck its hot enough right now that you can still run 10w40 down here. Its november and its still in the 90's!! [:@] Usually though i run 10w40 in the summer, 10w30 in the winter. If i hit the northland in the winter ill drop to 5w30 before i leave. Also im currenly using Valvoline Max life right now (have been since about 100k miles). Going to switch to ams oil in not to long and see if that smooths the idle a little bit.

Slap me silly if I'm wrong, but I thought our trucks went through the front oil lines because of increased pressure in the system from anything but 5w30?
