First post, thanks for all the good information. Anyway, about a year and a half ago I picked up a 2004 S10 Blazer with 38K, a retired military vehicle from Florida. Didn't take too long to notice an anoying high speed rattle that was either coming from the driver door or dash speaker area, hard to localize. Spent many hours covering stuff in foam, taping wires down etc.

Recently I took the truck in for service at a friend's shop. When he pulled the skid plate to access the transmission he found a nest of rocks (unfortunately, he didn't take a picture of it). Well, the rattle is gone and I am at peace with my blazer. Now I can focus on some of those cool mods I have read about on the forum.

Yeah doesn't hurt to take those skid plates down a couple times a year, at least - more if you drive in snow/sand/salt. My Jimmy had a pile of rocks as well under the tranny/transfer case. Pile of sand too from winter. Same with the Blazer ... and the one I owned before that.
