Default outer tie rod end

Hey there. am gettin ready to change my tie rods and was wondering which way does the nut go on the outer. Videos i have watched show the nut on the top of the steering knuckle. Mine is at the bottom. Wondering if someone put these on wrong. Does it make a difference? Thanks By the way it is a 98LS and reason i ask is one side the bolt goes down through and other side the bolt is up through.

The tie-rod end stud has a taper to it and should only go in one way onto the end of the steering knuckle.
