Default Rear end question?

Hi
i have a 1998 2wd blazer and the rear is on its way out. I have the 7 inch ring gear with a gu6 or 3.42 ratio.
I wanted to know if the 4wd blazer (2001 rear which is an 8 inch ring (gu6 ratio is compatible to my truck.
And is it a easy swap rear or does it require modifications. Thank you

4WD rears are wider than the 2WD rears. Yes it will fit on your springs. You would need to use the 4WD wheels. You may need to alter drive shaft length.

Something else to consider; the 01 4x4 axle is most likely a disc brake setup too, whereas the 98 2wd is most likely drum.
