I do some long highway trips and it would be nice to be able to hang with the faster cars that typically seem cruise at about 100-110 mph.
If you want to cruise at that speed for an extended period I would make sure to get a better tire. Aren't the factory tires a R rating or something?

R rated (106 mph) hence the 98mph speed limiter. With light truck tires, you have a very good tendancy to not be running them at their recommended load levels and pressures. A few PSI over or under and/or excess load and your probability of tread separation increase dramatically.

Yeah, i like to drive fast too, but not in my blazer. i've only taken it to 95. When you get new tires, the installers generally set the limiter to about the safest maximum speed for your set of tires, assuming perfect balancing and tire pressure. Like said before, a little one way or another on tire pressure and balancing can really put your tires in a bad situation. if i were you, i'd stick with the blazer's limit and take a car when you want to keep up.

Most installers don't touch the speed limiter at all... They don't even adjust your speedometer if you put different sized tires on...
