Default thinking of trading...

so ive been thinking about selling or trading my blazer for something a little better on gas mileage. and a guy i know has an 94 s10 reg cab 2.2 4 cylinder with a 5 speed in it. 2wd. he said he would trade me straight up. im seriously considering it but is there any problems with the 2.2 i need to be worried about? that would be the smallest engine ive ever had in a truck. and not sure if id be satisfied with the loss of power over the 4.3. well anybody with experience please let me know. thanks.

they will move for what they are, usually since they are geared low. Ive never done anything like tow with them etc,but its 4 cylinder truck. just remember that.

A little 2.2 dime moves pretty good. My bro had one before he got the dodge diesel. They are fun do drive, and the 2.2 is a good motor. We have ratbagged that thing since he got it new in 2000... It's over 200k now and barely leaks and still purrs. It's top speed is only 140kmph, but the move off the line nice. Fun to drive, and most def beats the crap out of the blazer on gas mileage

yeah. only drawbacks right now is he cut the exhaust off right behind the cab so itll be loud as hell. and the cab seems a little rusty by the rockers. i know these things like to rot to hell.

i had 2000 4 banger and it moved pretty good, only reason i dont have it is because the ex wife wrecked it. otherwise i would have kept her, nice red and sport side.
loved it all day long.

the 2.2 is not exactly a good motor. they run great and you almost never have a problem with them. but be warned, if you over heat it and blow the head gasket, just put a new(er) motor in it. if you blow the head gasket and fix it, normally the bottom end blows out of the them shortly after you fix the head and start to have a little bit of trust in the thing. then it leaves you stranded.
we have one for a work truck and it definitely cant keep up with my blazer going up the hills, but on flat ground, its right behind me. and it gets absolutely killer mileage. just today we got about 300 miles out of HALF a tank. but that all depends on how you drive.

My first Blazer was a one year old '86 with a 4 cyl/4 speed which I drove like a rented mule doing urban delivery work and was hooked for life. Put a fresh injector in it to maximize mileage.
