Default Troubleshooting the A/C

I have read and done research on a/c, and have had many vehicles that the problem was a simple recharge cure. With my 2000 Blazer, however, I am kin of lost. I fill it up, using the cans pressure guage, and it says its where it should be, then the clutch kicks in and pressure drops, then clutch kicks out and pressure to full, then the same over and over. It's not blowing cold, by any means, and I am afraid to overcharge. could it just be that the can isn't accurate for pressure? This is the first time I used this specific product.

and is there any specific tell tale signs that could indicate another problem, or should I keep charging for a little bit and see if it cools? The AC never worked since I got the vehicle, and I have only been driving it about a month.

Also, please include any a/c tips for other users searching, because when I searched, there is a lot of a/c stuff, but nothing specific with details.

Thanks

So, for anyone having this kind of issue, the simple solution is pretty easy. So long as you don't have a leak, your system is just really low, and the pressure builds until it is high enough to allow the clutch to kick in, then pressure drops. The more you fill it, the longer it will stay on, until it just stays on completely. My A/C works great now. I am not sure how it became so empty, since there is no sign of leak, but it works now.

I hope you are right about this. I just posted a question on this very problem except I have a noisy, squealing compressor. I'll try giving it another shot of R134.

When you added more refrigerant, how high did your pressure go up to?
