Default Vin Number Explained

Found a site with a vin number diagram of what everything means. Thought it might be useful to some so I posted up the diagram pic. I know some of you already know this by heart, but thought it was interesting.

Lmc has the list that's for s-series on their site. Its in the front of the catalog. Gives a more detailed list of what everything means exactly.

Yep, the vin number, on on the dash.

I don't have the info to look up the rpo codes from the sequence number. That would take a book big enough to hold info on every s-series built from 1982-2005. I don't even know if gm has released that kind of info. Right now its just the basic info.

I'm being a smartass because VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number. So saying VIN number is saying Vehicle Identification Number number.

Kind of like the people who say ATM machine are saying Automatic Teller Machine Machine.
