What got you into the Blazer?
The need for wheels.
Came back from Iraq, family was in Oregon and I was stuck in NC for 3 months solo. Walking is fun, but it makes grocery shopping a nightmare. Long story short, found a kid leaving for Germany in a few weeks and looking to dump it. Cash money goes a long way, and I got her cheap. Now I have to keep this pig running, and I have taken an interest in learning how to work on my own crap. Figured the Blazer was as good a place to start as any.

Always liked the Blazer, Was looking around in the States for a cheap used truck and well I ended up looking at a 2003 Blazer with 75,000 KM on it on the internet that was in Winnipeg, Manitoba that was dirt cheap. Well that weekend me and a buddy jumped on a cheap flight and drove 14 hours back in my nice new Blazer in a Snow Storm...15 Min of owning my Blazer I had it sideways on the Highway.
Was tired of the low slung Celica ('99).
Drove past a used car lot one Sunday morning & decided to see what they had. Saw the black beast sitting in the back, fell in love, rushed around other lots to check out their Blazers. The guy with the original one I saw had offered the best exchange $9k! (Bought the Celica for $10k the year before).
Given the problems I've had with the black beast, I figure he knew it & was only too pleased to do the deal to get rid of it. Also, he had a buyer for the Celica lined up. (popular with boy racers!) LOL
The rest is history! LOL
Oh yea, another important factor = CHEVY!!!!!!!

This is actually a good topic. I'm surprised no one has brought it up before lol.
I really couldn't tell you why I bought a Blazer. My car was dying on my (major overheating/blown rad etc.) and I didn't want to put any money into it. I know for sure I didn't want another car. I had to have a truck since I have an obsession for driving large vehicles. I couldn't afford a full size at the time though so I had to settle for a smaller truck like a Blazer. I'm very happy with it though. Someday I'll have my full size

My K5 = fate! I always wanted a full convertible. One popped up in the classifieds section here (yes, every once in awhile a truck will sell on the forum!). The guy lived in NYC and didn't want the truck anymore. Worked out well for me! He sent me pictures of everything I asked about and we agreed upon $500 for the sale price. Dad & I drove down to just outside the city with his new d-max quad-cab and 5th wheel flat bed and drove it up onto the truck.
Before my old 2000 Bravada, we had a '97 Ram extended cab 4x4. I liked that truck for what it was, but without the rear doors, having a car seat in the back would have sucked! So we sold that to a neighbor and picked up the Bravada. I drove a lot of different trucks. Almost went to Jeep, but the Cherokee was too small feeling inside to me. The Bravada was pretty much loaded and we got it for pretty cheap. Paying it off with money to spare from the sale of the Ram (lower mileage too).
The Rainier was just the next step in progression. Better power, stock for stock better offroad capability, more room, and just all around better than my Bravada. And with a PCMforLess tune, it's like a new truck! I find it easier to work on than my Bravada as well!

Growing up we went through 2 IH Scouts, 1 Full size jimmy, 1 suburban and a Jeep grand wagoneer.
To young to really remember the Scouts but when I graduated college I bought '94 Yukon and absolutely loved it. Hit the 100k mark and the tranny started going. Making chump change I couldn't get her fixed and still eat so I traded for a '00 Dakota and have always wanted back in. Nostalgia brought me to the K5.

We always had a Izusu Trooper (nice truck, wanted to keep that think so bad) but it was rusting out and we knew we'd need a new car. Once day I ride my bike (this is 5 years ago, lol) down to the local car dealer (actually, the main dealer is uptown, but they store some cars down in a small lot by my house) and they always had used cars. Well one day I saw the blazer there and showed my parents. I went there everyday to look at it, haha. I relized after a few days that the parents of the previous parents lived up by us, so once we got it we got some strange looks from some people who knew the car belonged to someone else. xD
