Ok, I know this thread is about what trailers you tow, but what kinds of hitches do yall use on the blazer to tow these trailers. I am looking at getting a hitch fairly soon and wasn't sure what you all recommended.

Got my "stock" class 3 hitch. I say that because it was there when I got the truck. I tow a 3500lb+ boat & trailer every summer & last winter ala the tow hook in the receiver I pulled a freightliner out.... ok I got him rolling, but still I was impressed lol

<edit> I know my 2002 can tow 5000lb with the class III hitch. Not so sure on the tounge weight but I think it's 600lbs?!

Wholly chit Jonathan... we don't need close calls like that ESPECIALLY on holidays!

Aux trans cooler? Please do tell, I just got my trans rebuilt (5 months back)& I want to protect it the best I can. What did you get & how much $$$?
I don't trust the rad trans cooler... we had a scanner hooked up while I drove & the trans temps got to be ehhhh kinda uncomfortable. I'd rather not see them get up in temp if I can avoid it for that $1800 rebuild/upgraded trans - if you know what I mean.

This weekend I will be towing a double axle uhall trailer with a yard of gravle in it. Not sure how much the trailer weighs empty but the yard oh gravel weighs about 3000 pounds (or so the gravel place says) it will be interresting, good thing it's only a few miles and no hills.

Yard of gravel is nothing compared to a yard of sand. Blazer should be fine, don't worry.
Depending on your vehicle. But that's just one scoop for a loader or a partial scoop.

I'm thinking of going with a yard and a half each trip then because we need 3 yards and the fewer the trips the better. My dad has pulled 3 yards in the same trailer (not at all good for the trIler) with his new suburban and it didn't have a problem so I don't think a yard and a half will be really a problem for the blazer. Only thing I'm worried about is toung weight because my back end is squatty like most stock blazers. I guess I just have to make sure they load it right. will take pics too

Search for "aux+trans+cooler" and you should find more than enough information. I'm partial to the B&M Supercooler's now since some of the other brands have cheapened up their design.

I've gotta get an updated pic of my 19CK behind the Tahoe!

I dont remember which one I got, It was around $180 ish, im away from home (whistler) right now, when I get back ill take a look and let you know which one I got. If your towing any trailer other than a small utility trailer I would def. put a cooler in, its WAY cheaper than a blown stock cooler will cost you as you have to replace the Rad and it will most likely blow in the rad as its the weak point, then you get coolant in your rad and tranny fluid in your engine and you have to flush several times to get it all out. I have to do a 4th coolant flush pretty soon. Not to mention having it run cooler will help the transmission last longer.
There not that hard to put in like kyle said just search it, you need to do a little bit of mod with some lines but its not a huge deal, I mounted the aux cooler INFRONT of the ac condenser so it gets the coolest air esp. when you have the AC on. and make sure you still run it through the stock rad as well (you want the hot tranny fluid to pass through the rad first) for 2 reasons, one it gives extra cooling and second when its super cold (And you and me both know this) it helps heat the tranny a bit quicker to.

I can add another trailer to my list. Just towed my grandpa's 16ft boat on a 300 mile round trip. The blazer handled it perfectly on the streets and highways.

I was towing this through the rolling hills of southern wisconsin. I was mainly limited to 3rd gear, I didn't want to risk towing with overdrive on the larger hills. The only problem was top end speed. I was able to maintain 60mph no problem; 65mph was another story, the truck would be at 3k RPM for longer than I'd like it to be on the large hills trying.

My truck averaged around 13.25MPG on the trip, not too bad for my average being 14.5mpg without a trailer.

I don't know the exact weight of the trailer and boat, but I'd venture a guess of around 3000lbs.
