More A/C Issues
I just recently had my 1995 Blazers A/C system recharged, and a high pressure valve replaced because it was leaking freon. The A/C system was doing just fine for a while, then all of the sudden it would start to work intermittently. It would run for about 5 - 10 minutes then not run at all. Now it isn't running at all. A friend of mine said it might have something to do with a pressure switch. However, there are quite a few pressure switches/valves w/ an A/C system, so it is hard to tell which one it could be. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. If it is a switch, what switch could it possibly be, how easy is it to replace, and can it be replaced w/o evacuating the system again. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

The AC cycling switch is the most common thing but that would keep it from workinfg at all... not intermitten so I dont think that is the problem
i think its low on freeon there is a leak somewhere the condensors are common to leak... usually by the lower pass side corner i would suggest getting a shot of tracer dye and looking for am leak with a uv light.

Thanks Dory. However, when the A/C was last recharged, a dye was put through the system. I will have to check to see if there are any leaks. The freon levels are where they should be according to the gauge I have. Thanks again for getting a professional's take on the issue.

as well as that, if the truck is overheating or the fan clutch is bad, the ac will not work as well

Well I would still look for a leak... but if a presure switch needs to be replaced, it should be able to be done without evac and recharge. I know that on the newer ones, the ac cycling switck does not require that and usually its the switch right next to the reciever/dryer (the thing that looks like a metal can under the hood)
