Cut airbox, anyone done this?

HAHAHA nice. I love the sound and power of an intake sucking in air, so it should only help my exhaust too. Man im excited.

I added a K&N filter, swiss cheesed the bottom part of the airbox and removed the screen at the MAF sensor... (Yea, yea... I know). I picked up about 2 mpg on the highway, can't say I noticed any more power though.

I bet 1.7 of those were from the K&N filter Was your other one dirty?

i cut the front of mine and i love it. it sounds great. I'm still using the stock filter tho, i have to buy a k&n one of these days

i know this is an old thread but anyone doing this dont get a oiled filter like K&N seen many very dirty engines from them I found a complete cai kit with heat shield for $70 and just got a dry cai filter from amsoil.
