Delete Resonators
Hi, I have a 2019 Chevy Blazer True North and the resonator is broken...lol I took the vehicle to the dealership and they wanted to replace the full muffler and resonator, which is supposedly in the muffler pipe already. It's a $3000 job. I was wondering if I could just have the resonator deleted and add a straight pipe to the muffler? Also, would it still make a lot of noise or will it still be muffled? I don't mind a little bit off exhaust rumble since I love the sound, but will it hinder the performance in the truck? Thanks in advance
Your post got me curious so I had to look this up. I found this article by Walker that says it is a necessary part.

However, I deleted the resonator on my 82 Prelude and didn't notice a difference. Granted, these are two very different vehicles.
However, I'm surprised they want $3k to do a job that should be a simple replacement of a part. I'd shop around and see what the parts cost. Sometimes replacing exhaust parts is not too bad if there is not too much rust. I've replaced my exhaust on my 99 from the cat to the rear twice. I've even replaced the cat once.

Thanks for the info. I did call a few places that said the same as you. I am,taking it to one of the shops on Friday and he will see if we can just completely remove it. If not he said the part is not expensive at all. I guess we wait till Friday! Thanks for the reply.
